Den Skaldede Sangerinde/The Bald Soprano
Visual Identity
My first year exam at DMJX, studying interactive design.
My assignment was to create a visual identity for the play ‘’The bald soprano’’, with the intention of capturing the essence of the unique piece.
‘’The bald soprano’’ was written in 1950 by the famous playwright, Eugéne Ionesco. The play is a classic example of absurd theater and mainly consists of a series of pointless and indeterminable conversations between two couples. Through the play, Ionesco questions our language and what we identify as good conversation.
My graphic universe mainly consists of white, nonsense words that are all synonyms of the word ‘talk’. The face created by the words, is used both as an eye catcher and to support the plays focus on the spoken language. The face is a symbol of how we ‘are what we say’, and how we seek confirmation in being seen and heard.
